At the moment, I am not studying or working.
I never really enjoyed working and I have never gained a business prize.
I like to criticize a film that I haven’t seen before.
I don’t really like to watch TV, going to the cinema and I don’t like doing or watching sport.
I have paid before, in order to make love.
I feel that generally life is like a formality or a matter of quality. It is just like giving up smoking, deciding what hair style to have, quitting coffee or breaking up a relationship.
At times I feel frustrated, de-classed, submitted and disintegrated.
My brothers see me as a lonely child, but most of the time I don’t give a toss.

In order to make it look more like a real dating site, I have decided to put some adverts around the page.
This is the first test. I have signed up to three free hosting sites, to see how the page looks surrounded by banners.
By using one of this free hosting site, I can have real adverts on the page. The down side is that in my opinion it looks a bit too cluttered and the adverts are just random, where on a real dating site the adverts are related to the content of the page.

I have decided that it is not relevant for this project, to have the site live on the server. As this is just a work about identity and the way to portray oneself, there is no need for interactivity within the site.
I can therefore use adverts from other sites, that are more relevant to the page that I am going to use and not randomly picked.

The second draft of the information for the web page
After a tutorial with Shaun, I decided to edit the information to put on the site, as some of the information on the previous version were too negative, giving to the site too much of an unrealistic feel.
The new edited version sounds more real:

This is a job that I did for a recruiting agency in Norwich. I think it would be perfect to use an advert for a job agency, as this would reinforce the message in the web page, where I am saying that I don’t have a job.

One of the feedback from a “group critique” was to change the photo (1) in the web page, with a new one that look more “cheesy”(2)

I have attempted to act drunk, but it look like an act and therefore is diminishing the ambiguity of the project. It feels like an act. The idea is the viewer should think that the entire work is real and not an act.
I am going to get drunk for real and film myself.

- Being critical about the television and the internet as a mass medium.

The space in the exhibition that has been allocated to me, is very good for the installation.
On the big wall there will be the projection of the web page and the tv will be on a plinth on the left hand side, in one corner of the room.

To me in life everything has equal status, like taking up smoking, having a new hair style, quitting coffee or breaking up a long term relationship. My brothers see me as a only child and so do I.

Final Concept
The DADA movement was arguing the meaning of art, creating something that was quite artistically beautiful.
The meaning of the work is the ambiguity of an exasperation of the character that I am “acting”, as what is seen could be an act, but also the whole existence as human being in a society could be an act.
I feel this project, reinforces my argument of the meaning of art and the context in which art is placed, which I have approached in my previous work.
It also questions the concept of identity, challenging internet and television as illusive mediums. Perfect tools to use in order to portray false truths.
