MA Proj Concept Development

Build an installation, to represent a journey which will describe a portrait of myself, that could be realistic or fictitious.

The installation is going to be in the form of a plinth with three screens:

top: from viewer

middle: hands

bottom: feet

Some of the video-clips here, as an example of what I am planning to do:

—————————————————————————–

To think about:

  • Psychology
  • Anti-narrative and conceptualism
  • Narrative, Non-Narrative
  • How to deal with narrative for conceptualism
  • Investigate the conceptualism Idea
  • Audience
  • Politics

Assuming a viewpoint

Talk more about the journey

Create a conversation and think about the extra layer between

Contrast between here and there

Talk more about the journey

I am not getting very excited about this concept, at the same time I am learning about street performers and different ways to express ideas.

There are many similarity between some aspects of street theatre, conceptual art and also capoeira (a sport that I practice), in the way they approach the psychological condition of seeing and being seen.

————————————————————————-

I decided to approach the idea of portrait in a different way, putting myself more in the centre of the project, in order to present that same uncomfortable personal challenge that was created in my last project by displaying myself in it, and projecting upon the viewers the interaction that derives from the way he or she can relate to that uneasy defenceless feeling, I want the piece to self-create a sort of dialog between the lines.

—————————————————————————–

In order to keep a link between my previous work and this new project, probably just following an intuition, I decide to develop the idea of a dating site supported by a performance and therefore put myself in front of the audience.

——————————————————————————

I have been thinking very much about the performance side of the project.

At first I wanted to do it in a public space, or somewhere in direct contact with an audience, but I am now thinking that the message would be stronger, if the performance was filmed in a very solitary and neutral space and then played in the show, to interact with the web page.
